We’re elated that you are considering joining the Cambridge High School Musical Theatre Company. We have been building a name for ourselves over the past few years, and we are thrilled that you are interested in growing our legacy and making art with us!
A Few Things to Know…
The Bridge Ensemble musical theatre class will be solely responsible for creation of the musical. They will also be a part of the one-act musical spring production.
How will we achieve this and provide a balanced and rigorous dramatic arts education?
The musical theatre class will all be placed in 6th period. This allows us to have the same amount (or more if needed) rehearsal time that we presently have without consuming as much of our after-school hours. Of course, there will still be Saturday rehearsals and tech weeks will still be demanding, but the goal is to make it less so than it currently exists.
Regarding the above,
Every student in the Musical theatre class will be required to contribute to the musical.
Musical auditions and rehearsals are separate from musical theatre class.
There are required dues associated with being in the musical company, which include the following:
Show production fees, Company T-Shirt, Show shirts, Thespian dues, BE Banquet and ThesCon: (Registration, Individual Events, Hotel, and Transportation Fees).

EXPECTATIONS
Pre-Audition
Complete the audition form (unless you are a current Cambridge Theatre Student)
Prepare a 1 to 2 minute monologue from a published play or musical (not TV or film).
OPTIONAL: If you consider yourself a singer, then please prepare a song selection from a musical. Bring a backup track without vocals. It’s best if the track is on your phone.
At Audition
Arrive at the audition 15 minutes prior to your assigned time slot.
Check in at table.
Dress to impress. Look professional.
Present your music track if you are singing.
Audition Process
Go onstage and get ready to begin. Wait for the okay to go. Adjust chair as needed.
Slate.
Present monologue.
Present song, if there is one.
Say ‘Thank You’ once you have finished.
Possible re-direct.
Moment After
Remember to get your music, before leaving if you presented a musical selection.
Days Following Audition
Class placements e-mailed to you.
If students do not make the company then they will be placed in the appropriate class – Acting I, Acting II or III - where they will best benefit from instruction.
Parent/Guardians of students assigned to Advanced Company will attend a mandatory Parent/Guardian Meeting before the end of this semester. Details of commitment for both student and parents will be covered.
Students who are accepted into the program will be expected to:
Read and understand the Company Handbook
Sign a contract indicating their willingness to adhere to company expectations, and the consequences should they not. Parents will be asked to acknowledge this student contract as well.
Advanced Drama One-Act Play is a GHSA sanctioned sport and students are expected to comply with the behavior standards per the Fulton County Athletic/Parent Handbook for GHSA Sanctioned Interscholastic Athletic Activities (this is an older version for the 2020-2021 school year - if updated, revised will be passed along). Parents and students will be required to sign-off that they have read and understand the information in the “Handbook”.
