Course Name: Dramatic Writing for Stage, Film & TV
Term: Year
Description: Dramatic Writing for Stage, Film, & TV is a participation/project-based course designed to provide students with opportunities to explore the professional writing process including the writing life, multi-genre writing, script writing, and pitching to studios/networks. This course is also accepted as a 4th ELA requirement and automatically counts as two transcript credits (Fine Arts elective & ELA).
Course Name: Acting 1
Term: Year
Description: The beginning year-long course is an introduction to acting. Beginning actors will be exposed to several different performance styles and methods that will improve their performance skills. This course uses theatre to encourage cooperative learning, teamwork, organization, and leadership skills. Theatres forte is in the emotional arena, where participants are able not only to express emotion in a safe environment, but also to learn how to calibrate their emotional responses to various stimuli.
Course Name: Acting 2, 3, 4
Term: Year
Description: These are year-long courses designed for students who have already taken Acting 1. This course delves further into the techniques of acting through the introduction of particular schools of thought associated with the control of voice and movement for effective character development. Using these techniques, students then explore the styles of realism and examine the artists associated with that movement and specific period styles. The course is for students wanting to hone their acting skills in an effort to broaden the range of possibilities for future performance.
Course Name: ADVANCED DRAMA

Audition and Director Approval Required for Placement
Description: Advanced Company is for the most dedicated dramatic artists. These students will be responsible for three of the year’s productions: Competition One Act Play, Children’s Show, and the Spring Play. In addition to being responsible for presenting incredible theatre, they will be required to participate in the Georgia Thespian Conference, as well.
Course Name: Tech Theatre 1-4
Term: Year
Description: Lights. Set. Costume. Sound. Hair and Make-Up. Props. If you like to create and see your work brought to life, then technical theatre is for you. In addition, you learn a lot of real-world skills while allowing your artistic side to play.
Course Name: Musical Theatre
Term: Year
Musical Theatre I - Introduces the style and characteristic elements of musical theater. Explores the mechanics of production, staging, voice, and dance. Explores the career opportunities available in musical theatre and offers opportunities for performance. Students in Musical Theatre are expected to audition for and perform in the school musical.
